Karatina University Receives Book Donations from Books For Africa

Books For Africa being the largest shipper of donated texts and library books and with a mission to end book famine in Africa shipped a 40ft container full of books to Karatina University. The received consignment had books in business and economics, computer science, mathematics, education, social sciences, medical and health sciences, law and fiction among others. The container was received and launched by the Vice Chancellor accompanied by the University Senate Members where he observed that, although the university subscribes and accesses digital information resources, there was need for the print books to supplement the e-resources, in addition to being the preferred form by some users. He appreciated BFA for the donation of the books and noted that they are current and relevant to the subject disciplines on offer at the University.

The consignment received will go a long way in building the library collection and it will also be used for community outreach programmes, where the library plans to share the books with the community library and neighboring schools. Karatina University acknowledges this partnership with Books For Africa in collecting and shipping these books. The Vice Chancellor called onto other organizations that can extend support for laboratory equipment and other research materials to partner with the University.
